Embracing Tolerance Essay Contest

1st Place

Zainab DhananiZainab Dhanani is a junior at Clements High School who enjoys creative writing and journalism, as she is a reporter and columnist for her school newspaper. As a Teen Board officer of the Fort Bend Teen Service League, she also enjoys volunteering and giving back to the community. Zainab is also a member of an organization called American Muslim Volunteers.

Som-Mai Nguyen: Individual Contributions

Sommai NguyenSom-Mai Nguyen is an IB junior at Eisenhower High School who enjoys participating in Eisenhower’s swim team, the visual arts program, academic UIL competitions and Key Club. She thanks her teacher Mrs. Glamser and the many people who made the Boniuk Center's Sacred Sites Quest possible.

 

 

 

 


Nimrah Fatima SaleemNimrah Fatima Saleem is a junior at Awty International School. When she's not busy studying for rigorous IB classes, Nimrah enjoys editing her school newspaper and listening to the Beatles, her all-time favorite band. A lover of spicy food and world affairs, Nimrah takes great pride in her Islamic faith and Pakistani heritage. She would like to thank her college counselor, Ms. Gowen, for introducing her to this essay contest.

Cameron HolmesCameron Holmes is a senior at Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions, where he excels both in academics and gymnastics. His favorite subjects are math and science and he hopes to pursue engineering in the future. Cameron thanks his English teacher Mrs. Zhang for introducing him to the Embracing Tolerance Essay Contest.

 

 

Somtochi OkaforA senior at DeBakey High School for Health Professions, Somtochi Okafor enjoys volunteering at Texas Children's Hospital, watching foreign films, and running. Her favorite subjects include history, foreign language, and government. She would like to thank her English teacher Mrs. Zhang for encouraging her to participate in the Embracing Tolerance contest and the Boniuk Center for providing such an opportunity.
